Q: Can you tell me how wide the seat is with the flaps included ?

It fits into a standard size bath but the flaps do not go flat they rest up the inside of the bath they are not load bearing. Hope this helps a little?

Q: Can you sit on it to shower ?

Have never used it in shower as I didn't think i should get the push in handset control contact wet.

Q: I'm sorry if this is stupid, but I am hesitating between the Bellavita and the bath cushion. Does anyone have experience of both?

Myy bellavita bath lift does take up quite a bit of room in the bath for back going down whereas bathcushion must deflate so would have more room. This is just my opinion

Bought this for my mums friend as she has had one for 3 years. Yes reclines reasonably well and sits low in the bath so you can soak.
