Q: Tried a hot pack with sauce and had some distortion of the plastic. What is the highest temperature a the bottles can withstand without deformation?

I cannot help you with this. I've only used my bottles for dish and hand soaps and cold stuff.

Q: What is the diameter of the opening? I would like to use these for homemade hand lotion.

Each container has a flip-top lid with 1/4" hole for dispensing. I use it for my balsamic vinaigrette salad dressing. Should work just fine for your lotion if it's not too think.
