Carlson Pet Products Lil' Tuffy Expandable Gate with Small Pet Door

We bought this as a replacement baby gate for our normal size "walk through" gate that our new puppy decided she could also walk right through! It arrived on time and was the cutest thing I've ever seen!! I love the optional walk through she has so we don't have to constantly pick her up over the gate when we want her in the room. It's made of the same durable metal as our other larger gates and I actually just ordered a second one because we love it so much! The price is also a big plus as we've spent hundreds of dollars on countless baby gates over the years! Our yorkie is 2 pounds at the moment so the smaller width between the bars is perfect as she can't fit her little head and body through it! I provided before and after pics to show our dilemma and how quickly this wonderful little gate solved it! Needless to say our little Penelope is not very happy with it! Haha! Highly recommend this for anyone with a tiny/toy puppy who needs barriers for certain areas!

This is exactly what I was looking for, something I could stepover, but a gate to keep my dogs from climbing the stairs, If you have a long legged dog that can jump, it probably wouldn't work for you. I have 3 dogs and one of them has 3 legs so didn't want her getting hurt climbing the stairs. She is the one in the picture and is really not happy about it. :)

 This is amazing! Cat food is safely out of reach from our 2 mini Aussies and I can step over the gate without fearing I will fall. I'm short (5 ft tall) so stepping over gates has not been my favorite thing to do for fear of catching my foot and tumbling. My dogs can go through the cat gate - I tempted them with treats on the other side after I set the gate up to see if they could fit through and yes they can. This is okay since the gate is low enough for both Zoey and Casanova to jump over. We open the door at night and close it in the morning just to keep the dogs out of the cat room/office. Even though one of our Aussies can clear the gate by jumping over she doesn't so I am good with that.The gate arrived and I read the instructions and setup literally took me 1 minute! It's super easy to install and uninstall within a matter of seconds. It tightens really nice and feels very solid. I highly recommend this for anyone that has a dog that will not jump the gate.The cat door is 10" x 10"The distance between the bars is 2 1/4"It stands exactly at 18" high

We were initially very happy with this gate. It was easy to use and well made. Tonight, we discovered the critical flaw that makes this gate hazardous for small dogs. Notice the rounded corners and space between the wall and the gate created by the bumper? Our small dog stood up on her hind legs and tried to place her paws on the top edge of the gate. One of the paws was on the rounded corner. The paw slipped down the slope of the curved corner and became wedged at the wrist between the gate and the wall. Thankfully, we don't use this gate without supervision. Our puppy could not possibly have freed herself without assistance. She had begun flailing around and was quite upset. Had I not seen it happen and responded immediately, she probably would have injured herself. I cannot recommend this for small dogs. In fact, the dog pictured with the gate in the product shot is exactly the type who would be at risk of getting pinned and hurt.

I have two miniature dachshunds who love to get into trouble so I now have several of these gates to keep them out of certain rooms. Perfect height to keep them out and for us to step over. Easy to put in/take out.

Super easy to get in place! Made from quality materials. It's not some cheap flimsy made gate. Looks a lot nicer than the wooden/plastic one from Wal-Mart, and my 18 year old cat can now get over the gate with ease, but the 13 year old dogs can't or won't. I'm also pretty happy that my senior citizen parents won't have any issues getting over this one. The other higher gate was becoming a struggle for everyone. I also love the price! $16 for a metal, quality gate....um yes please. We tested the little door on it, but since we won't be using it, it's not that important. The cat and the weiner dogs went through with ease.

Using in sliding windows. (Bought 3) Have a deaf kitty who is a screen climber who has come close to escape. Tensions right into place in Window. Measure window first.

I have now bought TWO of these gates. They are great!! I wanted something to keep my dogs out of the cat's room, but also not so high that my 14 year old cat would stress his joints jumping over it. I've had a ton of gates over the years and this one is the easiest to install that I've ever had. It's very secure once in place, but super easy to remove quickly if you need to. Very strong, too. It's short enough that I don't mind stepping over it whenever I need to enter or exit that room. If you're looking for a LOWER gate, this is the one for you!
