This review is for iGotTech Laptop Combination Lock Security Cable - 4 Digit Resettable Password Protection - Anti Theft Locks for Laptops and Other Devices by iGotTechI previously had one of those lock and key security cables and when I saw this one with combination lock, I had to give it a try.The cable arrived packed in a clamshell packaging and sent me off on a search for scissors. Once I wrestled it out of the plastic jail, I took it for a spin and tried to evaluate as best I could without leaving home.Weight and length : Rule of thumb for security cables and bike locks – thicker the cable, more effort and sound it will make for someone to steal the goods tied to it. But the lighter it is, the more you are going to take it with you and actually use it. This cable seems to hit a good balance of the two.The cable is 2 meters x 5mm – so not the most heavy device out there, but strong enough to hold its ground under a hacksaw and provide a visual deterrent to potential thieves.Form : The cable is encased in a hard plastic sleeve and has a metal clamp on the lock end. The end loop is welded shut and is unlikely to snap off easily (pictures of both attached).Functionality : The T lock fits nicely and I actually like the lever to operate it. It gives a visual satisfaction that you’ve locked the cable down before you scramble off the combination.Changing the combination was easy. There is a reset button at end of the lock that needs to pressed in when choosing new combination. This is highly recommended as most thieves WILL try 0000 combination. The instructions are on the packaging insert so read or click a picture before tossing it away.Overall I’m impressed and would recommend ! This is your typical laptop (or other device) combination lock cord. From the pictures, you can see how long the cord is and how nice it looks. In fact, the latter is what makes this cord stand out in addition to the ease of the combination lock portion of this product. In my office, the cord does not stand out even on my nice desk. In other words, it has a touch of class about it. What is really nice about this product is the combination portion of the lock. You will notice that the combination portion actually rotates 360 degrees AND the combination portion flips 180 degrees making it very easy to access the combination portion when it is secured to whatever it is secured to. Regarding the latter, it is very easy, and similar to other computer lock cords, to secure.Overall, the long cord, the classy look, the ease of accessing the combination portion all make this a five star product IF you are in the need of something like this. Please note, however, that if you are looking to secure your laptop that you make sure your laptop has a security slot. Macbook Air laptops do NOT have security slots and thus this product will NOT work with that kind of laptop.
