Product Description Produced by John Singleton (Boyz 'N' the Hood, Poetic Justice,Baby Boy)and the Winner of the Sundance Film Festival, Hustle & Flow is the redemptive story of a Memphis street hustler who struggles to break out of his gritty world to fulfill his life long dream of becoming a respected rap musician. He teams up with his middle class friend who is stuck in an office routine having missed the opportunity of becoming the music producer he always wanted to be. Together they have one last chance to follow their dream. Hustle & Flow is written and directed by newcomer Craig Brewer. It stars Terrence Howard,Anthony Anderson,Taryn Manning,Ludacris, Taraji Hensen,DJ Qualls and Isaac Hayes. .com "Everybody wanna be the king of the South" rhymes the P$C crew (featuring T.I. and Lil Scrappy), kicking off the Hustle & Flow soundtrack with the amped-up "I'm A King" remix. This film, about a Memphis hustler trying to become a respected rapper, won the Audience Award at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival, and appropriately, the soundtrack has the hottest dirty South (a.k.a. crunk) songs around. Lead actor Terrence Howard is a double-threat, not just playing up-and-coming rapper DJay, but also performing on a number of tracks in character. From the blacksploitation-affected "It's Hard Out Here For A Pimp" to the equally ('70s-esque title track, his contributions are respectable, but not nearly as pumped-up and crunked-out as the disc's standout tracks. Although the CD is rap-heavy, there are some great moments on the R&B front as well, including Eightball & M.J.G.'s lost-love track "Tell Me Why," and the disc highlight, "Still Tippin'", a Mike Jones/Nicole Wray remix that brings sweet Tweet-like grooves to the collection. Some of the CD's other contributors include Juvenile (who is typically clever in "Booty Language") and Webbie, who battles with Trina on "Bad B**ch Remix". Moms and dads should be forewarned, however, that there is nothing subtle about the lyrics on this disc: true to crunk, every imaginable expletive is crammed into these 20 songs and sound bytes, along with a hefty dose of gang-style posturing. For the under-18 set, best reach for the clean version. --Denise Sheppard

Great deal, great shipping and good CD.
I saw the movie, which I enjoyed immensely, and wanted to hear if the soundtrack was comparable.Value: 5 stars. O.K....there may not be a huge fan base for the CD, but I would have paid a lot more than $9.00 I'm my area; if I could find it at all.Ordering: 5 stars. Took only two minute to locate the CD and a few more to complete the order.Shipment: 5 stars. Came on time on third day of 3-5 day shipping in great condition.CD Soundtrack: 4 stars. It is not Purple Rain, but it captures essence of the film.

Suprising music quality
After seeing the movie, I had to get this album. The movie was fantastic and the soundtrack is even better so I recommend it to anybody that is a very big fan of the movie. You will definitely love the music since it's music from the movie as well as extras. Hearing Terrance Howard on his own tracks was dynamite. Love it.

Hustle and Flow soundtrack
I liked all of the tunes that the main character in the movie was suppose to have sung, but for me, pure gangsta rap rings like a dying art. There is an outright redundancy to the use of similar, derogatory street language that after a while just falls flat and takes on an immaturity that is undenyable on the inspiring art chart. All of the phony lines about murdering, drugging, robbing and living outside (meant to be above) the law seems to drone on, as if expressed by untalented, whiny bitches, rather than true musical innovators. The album does contain some bright spots, so it doesn't appear a total loss, but if you are looking for the kind of raw heart that the actual movie had, you may just be disappointed here. Definitely, buy at your own risk, because most of the material on this CD reeks of overly pretended violence spat by children in a play yard.

Terrence Howard surprised me when I read later That his first love was music and I purchased his album
Enjoined the movie and the music from the movie. Terrence Howard surprised me when I read laterThat his first love was music and I purchased his album. He is a very versatile actor and musicianAnd I enjoy both. My disappointment was that he was replaced as Rhode in Iron Man although DonCheadle is a good actor, he seemed a better fit.

Original soundtrack?
"Original soundtrack" it says next to the item. I'm a musician, by the way. I'm very careful when buying a CD from a film - a lot of merchandising seems to be intentionally misleading. I thought I was being careful this time. I saw the film the other evening. I loved the opening track - from what I can recall a sort of hard edged blues number with an amazing snare sound. Got to have that I said and ordered it. Guess what? Even the films opening track isn't on the CD. The cover of the actual CD -unlike Amazon's web page - does not say "Original Soundtrack anywhere". Ho hum, caught again. By the way the other review for this item is talking about the film - not the CD. Is that misrepresentation?

Amazing stylish vinyl. ESP for hardcore fans.
Amazing RSD vinyl. Yes expensive but huge south park fan. The only downside for me is side C/D the songs are remixes in an rnb style which isn’t for me. But has the original songs on it. I’d have preferred Trey and Matt to have released early demos of them messing around or something.

Da geht was!!!
