I use a soldering iron to wire guitars. My ancient 30 watt soldering iron just wasn't doing the trick anymore, especially when soldering a wire to the metal pot casing. This one has no problem with that. I need better eyes or a magnifying glass to see how to regulate the temperature, but I just guessed somewhere in the middle and it worked great.I like the fact that it comes as a kit. I keep the stand out, but put the rest of the kit in the zip container.Some cons that don't matter much to me, but might to you:The stand has to be screwed down. I was expecting it to stay in place on its own. I have no place to screw it down, so I put a weight on the spot where the sponge would go.There's no sponge, unless you call that paper thin orange thing a sponge.The wire stripper has trouble stripping the include wires. That just weird. I have a wire stripper, so no problem.It seems flimsy, but at this price, who could possibly complain?Even with the cons, I have to give this 5 stars simply because it's so inexpensive and works perfectly for what I need it to do.

Folks, you get what you pay for so when I bought this thing I wasn't expecting a super high quality kit or anything. But I was actually surprised how much value there is to be found in this kit. The tips are high quality, the iron itself is really solid and works well for my purposes. It's got temperature control and an on-off switch, which is more then many of the more expensive brands can say.On the otherhand, many of the smaller accessories are total crap, the stand for the iron literally never worked out of the box, it just fell apart as soon as I tried to assemble it. The solder that comes with it is decent but I've certainly used better. But all that being said, this whole kit only cost me 15 bucks and I'd gladly pay that much for the soldering iron alone. Including the crappy accessories is nice but also kind of wasteful. So there you have it.

I bought this because I needed the stuff that came with it. Not necessarily the iron. The zipper case and tools although not perfect make the kit a steal for the price. I prefer to zip tie the cord to the iron because there is nothing stopping the cord inside of it to twist.. When I first plugged in the iron it would short when ever I turned the temperature dial. After fiddling with it I noticed that it has to warm up before moving the dial. Basically go easy on the dial. When you have it set to the desired temp your not going to want to change it. Make absolutely sure you tin the tip with solder before you begin. These tips are cheap and can be unforgiving if you allow them to oxidize..These kits make a wonderful temporary back up or if you have friends over working on a collaboration. These can get fairly hot and will work really well if your friend forgot his soldering iron. The metal parts do wear out from oxidization, but taking the price into consideration these are functional for a week end build. Over all, I would recommend this soldering iron to anyone getting started with electronics or even the masterful if they want a back up iron.

I have no experience with soldering and needed to make a simple circuit board repair for my garage door opener. After some YouTube guidance I bought this and took a stab at it. Worked perfectly, and although someone with experience would say I had a very sloppy solder job, it was effective and this product worked well, even for a noobie. The supplies that come with it were good for someone building their first basic soldering kit, so I'll definitely be bringing it out again in the future after finding it easy and useful for beginners before needing to upgrade some parts or add additional components.

The value for what you get is fantastic, only question I had was why a screw was included but other than that has been working great! Day I got it, put it to work with soldering an engine Management System I have been working on, and having the different tips made it much easier and being able to adjust everything. Does it feel like the best soldering iron I've used? No, but it definitely has some good quality and a fantastic bang for your buck. I'd definitely buy it again if it goes out on me. Not even worried about going through a warranty replacement if that happened because the price of it just can't be beat.

The stand is a little cheesy and maybe a fire hazard if you don’t drive the included screw through the stand and into your workbench. Aside from this, the iron is quite nice and the included tools are pretty nice and very functional. For the price, I’m impressed. Just watch that stand.

I think this is a good bargain for a beginner or intermediate person who just needs the basic tools on occasion. However, I don't think the temperature control makes any difference. I set the temp control in the middle range, turn the soldering iron ON and wait for it to get hot. It gets very hot. I turn the temp knob down and it doesn't seem to make a difference. I turn it all the way UP and it appears to be the same... very hot. I have no way to measure the tip temperature while doing these tests. I think if I was on a project where I kept the soldering iron on all day it MIGHT cause an issue. I turn it on, complete my soldering in a few minutes and then turn it off.

Compared to others I have had this one should have cost more. The tip stays cleaner, is easier to clean, and heats evenly. Heats up fast and makes soldering some much quicker and less frustrating. Comes with everything needed and the case is great. Only recommendation would be to get a bigger sponge.
